Elder Connect Alabama provides a comprehensive list of services in Alabama that are available to senior citizens and their families. 

bulletGabriel Program assists individuals who need assistance with managing their monthly Social Security, S.S.I. checks as well as other income. 
bulletGeriatric case managers are trained to know what services are available to persons in need and how to insure the quickest delivery of those services. 
bulletHome Fix-It is designed to assist senior citizens with minor home repairs. 
bulletInsurance counselors are available to provide information on affordable health insurance/medigap insurance, health insurance policies and claim procedures. 
bulletLegal Services for the elderly are available for persons who are 60 years of age and older with low-incomes. 
bulletMeals are delivered daily for persons sixty years of age or older, who are homebound or for health reasons cannot prepare a balanced meal for themselves. 
bulletMedicaid Waiver Services provide Supplemental Security Income (S.S.I.) recipients in-home services if they meet medical eligibility for nursing home placement who may be eligible for in-home services. 
bulletPersonal Care/Homemaker’s Services provide light housekeeping and personal services, such as bathing, to individuals who meet the criteria. 
bulletSenior AIDES Program provides employment for persons who are 55 years of age or older and meet certain income requirements.  This is a job-training program to assist individuals who are seeking employment. 
bulletSenior Garden/Centers provide wholesome recreational activities for individuals 60 years of age or older and their spouse (regardless of age) at centers throughout Jefferson County.  In addition to a noontime meal, they enjoy fellowship with their peers, an array of activities, speakers, ceramics, art and crafts, quilting, shopping trips and other outings. 
bulletSenior Rx, low-cost medicine program, is a partnership of state agencies and community organizations designed to assist senior citizens with long-term illness who have no prescription coverage and limited financial means.  These programs provide many prescription medicines for free or at reduced prices. 
bulletYouth “IN” Aging is a preventive wellness and outreach program with a direct concentration on the aging population. This program is designed to improve the quality of life for the senior population in Jefferson County through personalized exercise regiments designed to enhance the concept of spirituality, mind, and body.
