The Information and Assistance Department at the Office of Senior Citizens Services (OSCS) is your" information and resource clearinghouse" for what's available for older adults and caregivers throughout Jefferson County. With one telephone call you can learn who to contact for questions about Medicare, who to call if you are having a problem with a long tern care facility, know to apply for homebound meals and a host of other resources available to assist if needed .. The Information and Assistance department at OSCS is available to you Monday through Friday from 8:00 am until 5:00 pm either by telephone or at the OSCS office should you wish to speak with an Information and Assistance Worker in person. A new resource available to the Information and Assistance department at OSCS is ElderConnect Alabama, a statewide database of resources and services for older adults. Using ElderConnect Alabama, you can find out where a senior center is in Mobile, a nursing home in Huntsville or any other information available to help a friend or relative in another part of Alabama. List of nursing homes, boarding homes, adult day cares or other services in Jefferson County can be accessed through ElderConnect Alabama.
