Whereas,
the Constitution of the State of Alabama, adopted in 1901,
now contains over 660 amendments; and whereas, the Constitution
is cumbersome and outdated.
Now,
therefore it be resolved that the Jefferson County Commission
wishes to go on record in support of a Constitutional
Convention in order that the 1901 Constitution can be
rewritten.
Adopted
by the Jefferson County Commission in Birmingham, Alabama,
a copy of this resolution is spread upon the minutes of
the Jefferson County Commission on this 15th day of December,
1999.
The
resolution was signed by all five Commissioners.
