COMMISSIONER
COLLINS RE-ELECTED AS THE REPUBLICAN NATIONAL COMMITTEEWOMAN

On February
12, 2000, Commissioner Bettye Fine Collins was re-elected as
the Republican National Committeewoman for the State of Alabama.
Nominated for the position by Senator Bill Armistead, Mrs. Collins
was overwhelmingly chosen by the members of the Alabama Republican
Party.
Mrs. Collins was supported by Eagle Forum President, Phyllis
Schlafly, who sits on the Board of Directors of the Republican
National Coalition for Life. Schlafly said of her, "Bettye Fine
Collins is an exemplary advocate of all things good and true.
Alabama is fortunate to have such an articulate, knowledgeable,
courageous Republican National Committeewoman to speak up for
us all."
Also in support of Collins' bid for re-election was Alabama
Public Service Commissioner George Wallace, Jr. He says of Mrs.
Collins, "she is a leader of great wisdom and dedication of
purpose in furthering the philosophies we embrace. She has at
all times exhibited the courage and diplomacy necessary to effect
meaningful change."
Mrs. Collins' statement upon re-election was, "You have my pledge
to always conduct myself with dignity, standing firm for the
principals of honesty, integrity, decency and morality as set
forth in our Republican platform."
