The Jefferson County Office of Sewer Service bills and collects sewer service charges. Fees pay for transporting raw sewage from each household and business to the Jefferson County Sewage Treatment Plants for processing before being released back into the environment. -
Rates - Sewer charges are based on water consumption as determined by your Water Board. Rates are $7.40 per 100 cubic feet of water used of $9.89 per 1000 gallons of water used. Residential customers are given a 15% discount for water that does not enter the customer's sewer lines at their home. (Rates effective 1/1/2008)
Billing - Sewer charges are billed on a monthly basis. The beginning period of service and ending period of service, along with a delinquent date, are listed on each bill.
Unpaid charges - Unpaid
sewer charges are the responsibility of the property owner and are transferred
to the new owner if the property is sold. If the charges are not paid
after notification is mailed, a lien may be filed in Jefferson County
Probate Court against the property.
