The Land Trust is the local conservation organization focused and dedicated to land conservation along our beautiful but imperiled rivers and streams.

"The mission of The Land Trust is to improve water quality and provide public recreation by preserving streamside buffers and critical uplands within the Black Warrior and Cahaba River watersheds."

Most of us can remember the first time we caught a fish, the first time we canoed, or the first time we stood in the rushing water of a rocky shoal. These memories linger through our lifetimes and are the very memories we strive to pass down to our children.  The Land Trust is working to insure clean water in our rivers as well as public access points that allow us to enjoy the spectacular beauty of our remarkable rivers and streams.

The Land Trust, a 501(c) (3) not for profit corporation governed by a twelve member Board of Directors, has adopted a business oriented, partnership approach to its conservation efforts, working cooperatively with private landowners, local citizens, business interests, elected officials, government agencies and other conservation organizations to achieve its mission.  The Land Trust strives to couple its watershed protection efforts with recreational and educational opportunities for the public via the installation of nature trails and interpretive signage where compatible on our lands.   The Land Trust believes public accessibility to our rivers will instill a strong conservation ethic among the community that can only serve to enhance and promote river conservation.
